What will I learn?
A general guide to the course is as follows. You will always be supervised by a leader when shooting, and while you are shooting you will get 1 to 1 coaching tailored to you. Lesson 1 An introduction to archery including a safety talk, archery lingo and a demonstration of Barebow shooting. We will cover basic shooting techniques, introduce the equipment and get you shooting! Lesson 2 Building on the basic techniques learned in session 1, Barebow aiming techniques will be introduced. At the end of this session you will receive a booklet to keep with all the archery basics in it. Lesson 3 This lesson offers the opportunity to shoot a larger quantity of arrows with an emphasis on developing a consistent routine. You will be shown how to either assemble or disassemble a bow. There will be balloons to shoot! Lesson 4 You will be taught how to shoot the Recurve Freestyle (with a Sight) technique, and practice this style. Lesson 5 You continue to learn and practice Recurve Freestyle, and will be taught how to analyse your own technique – so if a shot goes wrong you know why. Lesson 6 An introduction to competitive archery using a simple scored round to teach the procedures and etiquette used in tournaments. There will be a prize in each session for the best score for the round, and another prize for the worst (luckiest!) white. |
